Mount Elgon Hiking Safari (5 Days)

Mt. Elgon has the largest volcanic base in the world with 4000km², and a surface area of (50km by 80km). This enormous mountain is shared by two countries lying on both the Eastern border of Uganda and the Western boarder of Kenya; it’s the oldest and largest solitary, mountain in East Africa.

DAY 1: Kampala- Mbale. (Approx. 270 Km) About 6 Hours:Pick up from your hotel by our company guide or driver, transfer to the east of Mountain Elgon via Jinja and Mbale towns. Mountain Elgon is a 4,321 metre high. Spectacular scenery is the main attraction for the hiker on this mountain with a variety of forest monkeys, small antelopes, with elephants, buffalo and about 300 bird species.Accommodation: Sipi River lodge or Lacam lodge (Luxury)Meal Plan: Full Board.

DAY 2: Sasa River Camp- Mude Cave (15.5 km). About 6 Hours:Hiking starts in the morning. Ascend via the Sasa trail and then descend via the Piswa trail. This journey takes approximately 4 hours. From Budadiri take the trail that leads to Sasa River Camp where you climb up to Mude Cave campsite. If you are an experienced / stronger climber, you may leave Mude and continue climbing up to Jackson’s summit 4,192 m (2 hrs climb).Accommodation: Mud Camp (Mid- range),Meal Plan: Full Board

DAY 3: Mude Cave-Wagagai Peak-Mude Cave. (18 km) about 4 hours:Early in the morning, hike from Mude Cave climb to Wagagai Peak (4,321 m). Later descend to Mud Camp for the night.Accommodation: Mud Camp (Mid- range), Meal Plan: Full Board

DAY 4: Hunters Cave Camp. (10.5km) about 3 hours :From Mude Cave descend to the Caldera and Hot Springs.Accommodation: Hunter’s Cave (Basic),Meal Plan: Full Board

DAY 5: Piswa Patrol Hut and return to Kampala :From the Hunter’s Cave Camp trail descend to Piswa Patrol Hut. Return to Kampala via Jinja and Mbale town.Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch
