7 days Uganda Cultural Safari: Kingdoms, Traditional Sites

Day 1: To Hoima, Bunyoro Kingdom: After an early breakfast, travel to Hoima District. Stop over at Mparu tombs; the royal burial grounds for the kings (Omukama) of Bunyoro kingdom. Proceed to Hoima town for a lunch break. After lunch visit the magnificent Karuzika palace of Bunyoro kingdom. Local guides will take you around the palace. Proceed to the hotel where you will be entertained by the Entogoro dancing group (Banyoro cultural dance).Dinner and overnight. (FB).

Day 2: To Fort Portal, Toro Kingdom: Leave for Fort Portal with a brief stopover at the Mukwano tea estate to take photographs. Arrive in town for a late lunch. Visit the Karambi tombs and the Toro kings palace. Dinner and overnight (FB).

Day 3: Fort Portal to Kampala: After breakfast, drive to Nyakasura historical cave locally known as Amabere ganyinamwiru and also visit the Fort Portal boma grounds. Depart Fort Portal for Kampala with a stopover at the Nakayima cultural tree. Proceed to Mubende town and have lunch. Continue the journey to Kampala and arrive late in the afternoon. Dinner and Overnight (FB).

Day 4: Buganda Kingdom Tour: Visit the Wamala tombs as part of the Kabaka’s heritage trail. The site is built in Buganda’s cultural style with 52 rings which represent the 52 clans of Buganda kingdom. Continue to Kasubi tombs. Lunch break at your hotel. After lunch proceed to the Uganda Museum, and the Kabaka’s lake – one of the few remaining man made lakes in Uganda. Dinner and overnight (FB).

Day 5: Buganda Kingdom Tour: After breakfast, visit Naggalabi coronation site where the enthroning of Buganda kings has been taking place for centuries. A local guide is in place to provide you with the information concerning the site. Lunch break after which visit the Katereke prison ditch. Return in the evening for your dinner and an overnight stay (FB).

Day 6: Buganda Kingdom Tour: Drive east from Kampala to Ssezibwa Falls and then a visit to Mabira Forest Reserve for a guided nature walk. Travel back to Kampala, pass Namugongo martyr’s shrine; this is a place where many Ugandan Christian converts were burnt to death because of their faith. Time permitting, pass Kiwatule recreation centre for outdoor recreational activities. Dinner and overnight (FB).

Day7: Ziika Forest –Entebbe : After breakfast, visit the Ziika Forest on Entebbe road for birding activities and also visit the Bemba cave. Proceed to Kigungu catholic religious site; the first Catholic Church in Uganda. Visit Entebbe Zamugula and Muzinga square. Proceed to airport (BB).
