Uganda Bird Watching Holiday – 10 Days ( Mabamaba swamp, Kampala,Lake Mburo,Queen Elizabeth,Bwindi Impenetrable, Ruhija and Rubwindi swamp)

Day 1 Mabamba swamp – Kampala : Early arrival at Entebbe airport where you are picked by the company guide and proceed to Mabamba wetland bay for a birding adventure of 2-3 hours. Using dugout canoes search for the elegant shoe bill stork, lesser jacana, long toed lapwing, blue headed coucal, black crake, purple gallinule, swamp flycatcher and African pygmy goose to name but a few. Spend the rest of afternoon birding the surrounding before returning to Kampala , overnight in Serena Hotel or Hotel African.

Day 2 Kampala -Lake Mburo : Lake Mburo : After your breakfast, leave for Lake Mburo birding enroute / lunch in enroute, arrive in time for an afternoon boat cruise in search for the African fin foot, white backed night heron, Rufous bellied heron, White winged warbler, Papyrus Gonlek, papyrus canary etc. Dinner and overnight in Mihingo lodge Or Rwaboni Camp.

Day 3 Lake Mburo – Queen Elizabeth:Early morning birdingin lake Mburo swamps & camp surroundings for red faced barbet, green backed woodpecker, tabora cisticola, cuckoos, grey-capped warbler, and black-headed weaver etc. Return and catch up with breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth , lunch en-route /birding along the tracks on your exit searching for brown-chested lapwing, rufous-napped lark, black-bellied bustard, lilac-breasted roller, helmeted guinea fowl, Coqui francolin, plus many raptors. Mweya Lodge or Simba camp.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth Park:Early morning, birding in the vast savannah of Queen Elizabeth, return for lunch and an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, overnight O/N Mweya Lodge or Simba Camp

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park –Bwindi Impenetrable Park:After lunch, carry a picnic lunch, you will transfer to Bwindi Park, birding along Ishasha road and in the sector will give opportunities to see many raptor and probably tree climbing lions. Check in at Silver Back Lodge for two nights stay.

DAY 6: Watching, Rift endemic in Bwindi Impenetrable Park: Watching rift endemics in Bwindi, have breakfast, an optional of Gorilla Trekking (optional US$ 600) otherwise a full day bird watching along the water fall loop searching for black bee eater, short tailed warbler, purple breasted sunbird, yellow eyed black fly catcher, red faced woodland warbler, blue headed sunbird, brown capped weaver, Narina tragon, banded prinia , red throated alethe etc.

Day 7: Bwindi impenetrable National Park- Ruhija Area: Transfer to Ruhija early morning, breakfast, birding the neck, Ruhija surrounding, lunch and school road in the afternoon. Dinner , overnight in the Gorilla Resort or Bakiga Lodge.

Day 9 Ruhija – Mubwindi Swamp :Early morning breakfast, carry a picnic lunch take a trail to Mubwindi swamp that promises some of the most difficult of all rift endemics:- Grauer’s Rush warbler,African broadbill & Caruther’s cisticola. The day will be spent exploring the highland forests of Ruhija some 2300M above sea level. Star attractions are: – Handsome francolin,,African Hill babbler,Banded prinia,Shelley’s crimsonwing,Collared Apalis,Regal sun bird and many more. Dinner and overnight in Bakiga lodge or Gorilla resort

Day 10 : Ruhija – Entebbe , lunch en-route, take catch your flight home.
